FUTURESPACE INTERNSHIP – 2D & 3D Design Intern
19th June 2019FUTURESPACE INTERNSHIP – 2D & 3D Design Intern, UWE Frenchay Campus
Open Bionics is a Bristol-based bionics company developing affordable, assistive devices that
enhance the human body. We’ve started by introducing the Hero Arm, a stylish, 3D printed
multi-grip bionic arm. Other upper limb prostheses on the market exist as hooks, grippers, or
incredibly expensive bionic hands. We’re on a mission to make beautiful bionic limbs more
accessible. Visit our website to find out more: http://www.openbionics.com
In this exciting internship, you’ll work closely with our Lead Designer on a diverse range of
design tasks at Open Bionics, including creating new concepts for our bionic arm covers,
creating web & print graphics, design research, and more. The ideal candidate will therefore
have skills in CAD, Photoshop & Illustrator, and some experience of 3D printing is desirable
(though not essential).
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to work for a cutting-edge robotics company to lend
support in creating design work that is life-changing for amputees & limb-different people, and
seen by millions of people across our social media & online channels.
We’re a lean start-up, so you’ll need to be a self-starter with a hunger to learn new skills.
This role requires aesthetic design experience and will be a mix of 2D & 3D work, so would be
well suited to a Graphic Design student/graduate with an interest in product design, or a Product
Design student/graduate with an interest in graphic design. Art & fashion students/grads will
also be considered provided they have some experience of relevant design software.
The role is part time, 2.5 days a week for 20 weeks (we can be flexible on which days of the
week this is).
To apply, please email a CV, cover letter and portfolio to ronan@openbionics.com
For your portfolio, either a PDF or a link to an online version is fine.
Start date: 8th July 2019
Applications close: 25th June 2019
Pay rate: £3000 (over 20 weeks, part time)
