Hacked! is a board game for 8 -11 year olds that educates and informs youth on the ways algorithms can shape our everyday lives, and how to combat them.
This is how they describe the project: Youth are increasingly online and consuming content on the internet from a young age with little understanding of how algorithms shape their experience of social media platforms. Hacked! is an educational board game with an accompanying teacher pack that can educate young children (8-11) on what algorithms are, how they work and how they affect the information we consume. The game is designed to be an interactive, collaborative and fun approach to unpacking the topic of misinformation and can be used to supplement existing curriculums on internet safety and digital literacy.
A Publication by Level 3 students of UWE Bristol Graphic Design BA.
As every other year our level 3 students have joined forces to generate content, design and produce a printed publication. This year, An Ode to Tomorrow explores the realms of the possible and the impossible, aiming to provide a platform for dreams and imagination. By taking a speculative look at the potential of tomorrow and our ability to succeed in an era with a great number of challenges, we pose questions that we don’t always ask ourselves. Published in a limited and numbered edition of 500 copies, An Ode to Tomorrow includes an interview with artist and researcher Professor Teresa Dillon about the future of repair as well as a detailed discussion with Dr. Paolo Ruffino about the end of Game Over in videogame culture. Through an experimental and collaborative process we ultimately ask the question, why must we sit in society’s confined limits? We no longer need to be managed and controlled. Let’s imagine a new future, speculating to change, speculating to a time without limit.

SCRR-B Apr 15th on Zoom
Hi Everyone,
Come along to the final event for the series RE-WORK IN THE FUTURE, run by Street Corner Reading Rooms-Bristol, to re-think our current work structures and work culture and open a conversation on the future of work!
The current Pandemic has highlighted the cracks within our system and radically changed our ways of working.
But does anybody want to go “back to normal”? Maybe this is the best time to re-imagine an alternative norm.
This event is run by: STREET CORNER READING ROOMS, a student-led project convening invited speakers and participants in a series of events in the spirit of togetherness and difference. Events might use readings or talks as a springboard to discussions and artistic interventions, resulting in documentation that could take multiple forms.
SCRR has been initiated as a partnership between Philosophy, Fine Art and Graphic Design programmes at UWE Bristol and offers the opportunity to students and alumni to submit a proposal to receive funding for a specific reading room idea. The initiative seeks to make the diversity of voices present in the student body heard and is supportive of pluralist discussion and anti-prejudice agendas.
