As every other year this year we organised a study trip for the graphic design students to Helsinki, in Finland, with 3 members of staff and 50 students. During the 5 days in Helsinki we have been involved in a myriad of activities, from a guided tour at the Design Museum to a making workshop at the National Museum, through having access to the People’s Archive graphics. We managed to organise a meeting with the visual communication department at Aalto University, where a mini-Erasmus exchange took place. During 4 days we visited a total of 6 design studios and agencies, producing diverse work, who kindly organised presentations and lectures for us. On the last day of our stay we visited HIAP, the Helsinki International Artists in Residence Programme, where we gained acquaintance with contemporary art production in the beautiful setting of Suomenlinna island. All this left enough time and space to still enjoy modern architecture, saunas and salty liquorice, and engage in pleasant conversations of all kind with the people in Finland. It was indeed a wholesome week, and surely a valuable experience in terms of growth and education for us all. We hereby take the chance to thank everyone who was involved in making this happen.
This mini website is there as an archive and as an attempt to share this remarkable experience with everyone.

The site also acts as a student resource including current live opportunities. Located inside the Arnolfini contemporary art gallery in Bristol city centre and taught by practising graphic designers, learning takes place in a studio environment with exceptional department facilities and a real-world dynamic. The course ranks very highly in the National Student Survey (NSS). Current students are regularly shortlisted for national and international graphic design awards. The course provides excellent preparation for a creative career in the UK and abroad. Many of our graduates establish their own freelance businesses or independent design companies.
