Bristol Museum: Illustration Opportunity

Illustrator Brief

We are looking for an Illustration Student to produce a series of 10 simple illustrations that show some objects and spaces at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.

This is for a paper guide to a podcast trail, which is currently being produced by UWE students, that seeks to uncover uncomfortable histories around objects in the museum.

We are looking for a simple, line-drawing aesthetic, approx. 10 cm diameter, using 1-2 colours.  Illustrations can be hand-drawn or digital, and can look classical or contemporary in their style.

What’s involved?

–          Come into the museum for 1-2 days in June (exact dates to be arranged between us), to produce the drawings. We want to encourage your artistic style, but may give some feedback to ensure the drawings suit the overall project & audience usability.

–          We can pay an honorarium fee of £100, plus you will be credited for your illustration and profiled as an associate artist on the museum website.

–          Please apply by sending links to your illustration work to Claire.Simmons@bristol.gov.uk and Fiona.Russell@bristol.gov.uk by Monday 27th May.

City Fellows

CITY FELLOWS

The programme will support ambitious, collaborative and experimental

ideas, from artists working within their communities to address

overlooked histories, current conversations, and dreams for what we need

next. The aim of the work is to collectively understand the world we live in

and to find ways to imagine the future together.

In 2019, we will support two artists to develop new projects. Across a 9

month process, we will provide an artist fee, a production budget,

mentorship and professional development – giving artists the space and

time to conceive of a new idea that inspires ways of thinking, working, or

dreaming for Bristol.

Alongside these projects there will be a public programme of walks, meals,

conversations and performances – City Fellows will open the making

process up to the city’s artists and communities to dream a new Bristol

together.

Artist applications are open until midnight on Sunday 26 May, 2019.

WerkHouse

Werkhouse applications are open again
June 15-16 workshop at Taxi Studio in Bristol

We are open to 2nd Year, 3rd Year and recent graduates, and as
diversity in the design industry is such an issue, if you can
particularly encourage your BAME students to apply, that would be
great.

Details and application form is at: https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=www.werkhouse.co.uk&data=02%7C01%7Ccolum.leith%40uwe.ac.uk%7C53594627212e418bf33908d6c314a5a4%7C07ef1208413c4b5e9cdd64ef305754f0%7C0%7C1%7C636910890780858596&sdata=OQlSEVtBFO576%2BO1P6%2B4ItbdC64X1xENStDmN26OQOM%3D&reserved=0

We will again invite 30 young creatives and we have 20 design
professionals (from ten different local design agencies) that work
with them to give them a short/sharp experience of what it is like to
work in a busy commercial design studio.
