Design Poverty shortlisted for 50 books 50 covers

The 2017 Graphic Design third year collective publication “Design Poverty” has been shortlisted for 50 Books | 50 Covers, a competition by the Design Observer. The juror-selections from the 50 Books | 50 Covers competition exemplify the best current work in book and book cover design. One set of the physical artefacts will become part of the AIGA collection at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library within Columbia University’s Butler Library and a second at the Robert Haas Arts Library at Yale University.

ISTD 2018

Natalie McCarrick, Handy Tandra, Joe Williams, Lewis Watling and Vivian Wong, 6 UWE Graphic Design students with 2 of their tutors (Gabriel Solomons and Marco Ugolini) awarded the ISTD 2018 Award. The best typographic and print work by students from around the world. The prize giving ceremony took place at Pentagram in London.

Winners of the 2017 British Book Design & Production Awards

Handy Tandra, a student from the University of the West of England, came top in the Best Student Book category at the 2017 British Book Design and Production Awards, winning a £500 cheque and the opportunity to complete an internship in the industry for his book Kanye. Alice Robinson was also highly commended in the same category. Our students were two of the seven short listed finalists. Congratulations! A great achievement for UWE Graphic Design BA.

D&AD New Blood 2017

Congratulations to UWE graphic design level 2 students Adrianna Bilas and Vivian Vong on winning a wooden pencil at D&AD New Blood!
