The Circle

Simon Green and Miriam Delogu from ‘The Circle Bristol’ https://www.thecirclebristol.org/  are looking to redevelop the Bearpit for a sustainable food and education environment.

As part of the plan, they are looking for ideas from students and staff for performances, exhibitions, pop-ups, etc. These can be at a short notice or with a longer lead-up time. Ideally, they would related to sustainability in the widest sense, though this is not a pre-requisite. I think this would be a great opportunity for our students to get involved and to display/present their work in a busy city centre location.

The team are holding a ‘drop in’ to comment on their redevelopment plans and to input ideas next week – Wednesday 17th until Friday 19th October, 9am-12 noon (at the Bearpit, St James Barton Roundabout).

Also, they are keen for students and staff to contact them with ideas for activities.

If you have any ideas for possible pops-ups, engagement opportunities, exhibits or performances, do get in touch with them at hello@thecirclebristol.org

With a diverse range of media reflecting the diversity of their backgrounds, the exhibition features fashion, ceramics, sound, illustration and painting. In the two rooms of the exhibition and the space in between, Throwing Shade invites the audience to experience the tensions, questions and richness migration brings us – as individuals, a city and a world.

Black Women 100

Sunday 07 October 2018,

12:00 to 16:30

100 years after the first steps were taken towards voting rights for Women in the UK, Bristol Women’s Voice and Sing With Soul celebrate Bristol’s Women of Colour, through a line up of performance, talks and panel discussions.

The event will unearth the stories of incredible women of colour who fought for equality and the right to vote, shining a light on those whose contribution has too often gone overlooked.

Our very own Programme Support Assistant and UWE Alumni Stacey Olika will be amongst the speakers of this day.

In the words of Sandra Gordon, Bristol Women’s Voice event organiser: So many Black Women have led the way fighting inequality and injustice throughout their lives, without the acknowledgement and recognition of their invaluable contribution. I am proud to be working on a project that ensures that history is told, remembered and celebrated by all within our diverse city.
