Young people interested in climate activism are being encouraged to apply for grants from the Fi Radford Memorial Fund, an endowment left by a late climate activist from Bristol.
Fi Radford campaigned against the expansion of Bristol Airport, and founded Bristol Environmental Activists Together (BEAT). Young people in the Bristol area between the ages of 11 and 24 are eligible for grants of up to £250, to support campaigning or education in environmental work.
‘Fi Radford was an inspiration to many people and is fondly remembered as a wife, mother, friend and environmental campaigner. If you met Fi, you would have probably remembered her for the many qualities that she possessed – her kind nature, her passion for campaigning, her smile, her wicked sense of humour along with an unmistakable laugh. It was with great sadness that Fi passed away in November 2020 after a short illness with cancer.
Her family and friends were determined to see that Fi’s wonderful campaign work continued and so established The Fi Radford Memorial Fund with a focus on encouraging young people to get involved in securing a safe and sustainable future.’

Letter Luvvers – group meet-up (Wed, 21 Sep 2022)
‘Letter Luvvers is a meet-up group for everyone involved with lettering in Bristol. We invite lettering artists, signpainters, typeface designers, letterpress printers, calligraphers, typographers, tattooists, font technologists, graphic designers, font fans and more to come together in a pub for drinks and networking every two months. The evenings start with some short talks, then people stay as long as they like for discussion and socialising. The evenings are free, but please sign up on EventBrite so we can judge numbers and contact you in case of important updates. There’s no profit motive, just bringing people of related passions together.’

From the late 1970s to the mid-1980s, the British graphic designer David King’s protest posters gave left-wing causes a powerfully persuasive new identity. His extra-bold designs for the Anti- Nazi League, the Anti-Apartheid Movement, the National Union of Journalists, and other organisations presented their messages with a graphic force and conviction that no one could ignore. King was a master of hard-hitting typography with an equally assured command of photography.
This exhibition will display key posters from his body of work, as well as his unmissable covers for City Limits, a radical weekly London listings magazine, which work like mini-posters.
