A ‘picture of happiness’ is an exploration of our different perspectives of happiness. It is argued that happiness shouldn’t be seen as a destination, because it will end up being something we constantly look for. Therefore I wanted to explore how certain places and situations can genuinely make us feel good, I was taking the subject of happiness really literally, and letting it explain itself simply on the page.
THE WOMANUAL is a project that explores the fabrication of feminist utopias. Using content generated from The Utopia Room Survey I produced a comical guide to aid the construction of a feminist space. Designed for proactive individuals looking to escape the toxic patriarchy, THE WOMANUAL provides simple step by step actions to fabricate a feminist haven.
Fear comes in waves, it comes in many forms and it can be triggered by many things.
This project explore visual and audio triggers used to induce fear while playing with visual
representations of fear rippling over a grid of reactions.
High contrast black and white studio shots caught and edited by my self (Kye Taylor)
crossed with the sound scape created by Joe Hurrel (game sound design student),
the collaborative piece helps motivate distressing emotions, enjoy.
‘On Board Entertainment’ is a flight package mocking the way humans choose to utilise the liminal space on flights – between origin and destination. Rather than being productive or relaxing, many get stressed and angry, ruining the experience for other passengers. This troublemaker is encapsulated by sleazyJet’s happy-go-lucky mascot, Jeff.
Level 1 students, as part of their first module, Introduction to Words and Images – (Images strand) – have been working on a 2-part project looking at Capital, Production and Work.
The students were tasked to find and document examples of workers, images of people engaged in their work activities to be used as content for a collective A4 Riso publication, produced in one day.
Chasing the sun is a dynamic, obsessive journey documented from Bristol City to Weston Super-Mare. The journey dives into a vigorous moving image through zooms, twists and turns. Using photography, stop motion and videography the final film aims to communicate the way we as humans travel through the land, using the sun as our guidance to direct us.
This film is the second project part of my extended study in the relationship between man and land. Alongside to be viewed with the film is; a publication, a large scale fold out map, an accordion poster, a laser cut typographic object, a photography book, a sun typographic video and a promo video.
Through exploring creative related fears and insecurities, I have created a set of uniquely shaped balancing blocks, which aim to aid creative block. The forms are inspired by the conflicting physical associations with the word ‘block’, such as irregular, multi-faceted and stone-like shapes. The process of stacking the blocks into mini, precariously balanced sculptures are inspired by the man-made stack of stones called Cairns. This process of stacking, building, and balancing encourages thought and imagination. Every interaction and build will be unique due to the irregularity of the blocks, allowing the mind to think creatively and find a solution, moving away from the creative block.
Supporting publication looking at the usability of the balancing blocks. How people interact and interpret with them whilst also referring to the concept of ‘play as work’ to aid a person’s creative block. How does the simple act of playing spark a persons’ creativity? whilst examining how the creations are representative of the players’ practice and stylistic approach.

Typenowhere documents work created on the BA(Hons) Graphic Design course at The University of the West of England, at Arnolfini contemporary art gallery in Bristol. The site also acts as a student resource including current live opportunities. Located inside the Arnolfini contemporary art gallery in Bristol city centre and taught by practising graphic designers, learning takes place in a studio environment with exceptional department facilities and a real-world dynamic. The course ranks very highly in the National Student Survey (NSS). Current students are regularly shortlisted for national and international graphic design awards. The course provides excellent preparation for a creative career in the UK and abroad. Many of our graduates establish their own freelance businesses or independent design companies.
