We are a young independent publisher based in East London who make collectable photography books. In the past four years we have received critical acclaim from the likes of Martin Parr, Time Magazine, The Guardian, BJP and many more and in 2017 we were awarded the IPG Newcomer Award and our series ‘Tales from the City’ was awarded the 2017 Brand / Series Identity Award by the British Book Design & Production Awards. Our goal is to bring beautiful photography books to a much wider audience with a fairly tight brand aesthetic.

We are looking for a talented, super-enthusiastic book-mad designer to join the five-person growing team at Hoxton Mini Press in our brand spanking new offices. The role is specifically for production design in print:

  • Liaising with the creative director, photographers and freelance designers to bring books to print
  • Applying and evolving brand visuals across various platforms (website, books, newsletters and so forth)
  • Refining cover designs
  • Managing all visual assets
  • Preparing artwork for print


This is a highly technical role and should be for those looking to follow a design or production career within print publishing. You should be passionate about paper, production and colour and be highly experienced with InDesign and Photoshop. At the same time, you should have a keen eye for font, layout and sequence.

This is also an organisational role which will see you work closely with our in-house production controller, creative director, photographers and repro houses to make decisions about layout and materials and sequence.

We should be very clear, this is not a role for designing complete books and covers from scratch, that is done by a host of freelance designers, although you will be involved in the creative process at all stages and the role may well develop. There will also be opportunities to design a few in-house covers alongside the creative director.


  • A good sense of design – a personal portfolio of work is essential
  • Expert knowledge of InDesign
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop
  • An understanding of colour management
  • A number of years experience within and/or a very good knowledge of print production

  • Willing to learn fast and adapt to a changing environment
  • Have a clear passion for books and other print media
  • Be interested and knowledgeable about photography and the wider arts


£22-27K dependent on experience / skills


The job will start beginning of July – but there is flexibility.

Assistant Project Manager role with Ginkgo Projects – Deadline 21st March

Ginkgo Projects are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to work on delivering a large public commission in Amesbury/Stonehenge.  They would also be involved in delivering some other projects at Ginkgo.

This would be approximately one day a week for about a year (overall fee of £7200) on a freelance basis with quite a flexible approach to fit in with the ebb and flow of this project.  The Amesbury/Stonehenge project should be complete by late spring 2019.

This would ideally suit someone with some project management experience although this is not essential if they bring enthusiasm and a common sense approach!  This might be someone with their own practice, part time employment or study that they could fit this round. It will involve working with artists and communities, so someone who enjoys working with people would be good.

This is not an artist role and would involve desk based work, meetings and some travel to oversee project delivery where necessary.  Access to a car would be ideal.  It is important that this person is self-reliant and can work independently as well as in a team.  Some time may be spent working from home, some in the Ginkgo office and some on site as appropriate.

Bristol Sport: Graphic Design Position

Bristol Sport is part of a group of sports companies owned by Stephen Lansdown. We oversee the business, commercial and operational interests of its affiliated clubs which include Bristol City Football Club, Bristol Rugby Club, Bristol Flyers Basketball, Bristol City Women’s Football, Bristol Ladies Rugby and Ashton Gate Stadium.

The graphic design role sits within the busy marketing team across all of its affiliate clubs as well as Ashton Gate Stadium and will report directly to the Head of Marketing.

You will be expected to deliver across a variety of print and digital design work ranging but not limited to brochures, newspapers adverts, direct mail leaflets as well as constantly pushing the boundaries by creating media for social media, website and email digital platforms.

A minimum one years’ experience working in a commercial environment and qualified at degree level in design/graphics or similar qualification are both desirable

To succeed in this role you will need to:

  • Have excellent working knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Be highly efficient in using Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects on a daily basis
  • Be able to work across multiple campaigns at any one time
  • Be able to deliver high quality work under intense time pressure often with quick turnaround times
  • Have a good grounding in layout and typography, branding, following corporate guidelines and creating motion graphics
  • Know the difference between artwork set up requirements for digital and print output

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To interpret and deliver creatively working across all departments from retail to ticketing to stadium to commercial briefs
  • Create a range of concepts and mood boards based on briefs
  • To see the design process through from start to finish
  • Deliver first class output working to very tight deadlines
  • Constantly introduce creative flare to make our campaigns stand out from the rest
  • To understand and work with restrictions from external bodies (Football League, RFU etc)
  • To design within club and partner brand guidelines
  • To work closely and have a voice with the marketing team to develop new creative ideas that drive the business forward
  • To ensure all artwork is delivered in correct formats and follow the correct proof checking process so that no work is released with errors
  • To be able to create motion graphic advertisements

This role is based at Ashton Gate Stadium, full time; Monday to Friday however due to the nature of the company there is an expectation to work some Saturdays and Sundays .
