A Sign of Breakdown

A series of semiotics designed from a repeat pattern that was inspired by the atomic structure of CO2 – these signs serve to warn the public about issues such as air pollution and climate risks. The square system was informed by quantative measurements of CO2 in any given environment.

The series was centred around braille, the communicative system used by visually impaired people – how could the concept of communicating without words or images be utilised to create warning signs?

From London With Love

This looks into the life of young adult Londoners, documenting their opinions of living in the capital and voicing their love and passion for the place they call home. Through this is an attempt to weigh up if their reasonings justify the extortionate living costs of London which currently plague the city. It’s increasingly impossible for adults to afford living here, and ultimately get themselves onto the property ladder in hopes of eventually owning their own home. This is displayed in the form of an imagery/ typographic based publication using film and digital photography to capture the featuring subjects.

4 Day Week

The 4 day week is becoming an ever more talked about topic, with some successes around the world proving similar productivity levels to working the “normal” 5 day week. It is in grasp of the average employee and something we can realistically look forward to.

Digital Holidays

The question arises of how we take a break when we feel under such obligation to work and meet our targets. 2020 also introduced the complexity of being unable to travel due to the worldwide pandemic. This unique situation as created a workforce without a break and without a desire to take one. This project poses the question of what a speculative future of holidaying could be, embracing the tools and devices around us to take adventures far beyond our office chairs. Time to take a digital break?

Topple

This publication was created to educate about the effect that material culture and white privilege have on our day-to-day lives without us realising, while also linking it to the withdrawal of Edward Colston’s statue last summer. The toppling of the monument was a perfect example of how an object and white privilege have combined to affect people’s lives and decisions. I used the word ‘Topple’ as the title for this publication because, as well as describing the removal of the statue, it is also a perfect way to express how racism should be dealt with generally. Topple it.
