Holy Design Union is a collection of ideas, experiments, speculations and designs on the subject of unionising workforces. The power of a union lies within the real action and physical stuctures and communities they are both able to produce and protect. Holy Design Union searches for a such a community amongst designers.
The union specifically looks at the polarity in modern society today between education and professionalism, in which design as a craft, practice and theory is reduced to a paid service in a society in which markets dictate our relevance. Within this shift there remains a space for authentic and truly sustaining forms of activity.
All content found on Holy Design Union is free to use, disseminate and appropriate for non-profit purposes.
A wearable sandwich board designed to engage people in conversation about their relationship with their neighbours. The conversation is initiated by asking a simple question: who are your neighbours? Often knowing their names is not necessarily the first form of introduction. Neighbours engage through waving, saying hello or just nodding at each other in the street without getting to know each other more personally. They are often taken for granted.
This animation is a warning and reminder for everyone during the pandemic; it also represents the feeling of being stuck at home. It is one of two animations that I created around the topic of home.

Necklace
The design of this necklace came from looking at the way roots and veins grow/ work. It’s about feeling closer to nature when you wear it, from those design similarities. as well as making you feel more empowered.
Looking at individual handwritten letterforms and their link to the person they belong to, I developed recurring patterns based on people who were educated in different countries. To be used on fabric so that the individual could wear their handwriting, or in this case used as the cover of a notebook/journal, which would later be filled with the same script. A study of how where you learned to write now influences your handwriting as an adult.
